March 29th!

Hello again!
I hope everyone is out enjoying this beautiful day! :) I cannot wait for spring weather. It is also almost Lumberking season, gotta love that! But anyway, my grandma informed me of a 12 year old boy named Max Low.  He has been battling leukemia since he was 5.  Max Low is now trying to reach a goal of one million get well cards sent to him, Max-a-Million.  Since he made this goal public he has received over 23,000 cards!! They are receiving about 2,000 a day! He has also shown improvement since this has all started, doctors say that they will see if his body can run on his own white blood cells. Otherwise his father has generously offered his bone marrow, seeing how it is a 90% match, to his son. I brought this story to my principal and the kids at Clinton High School are going to be making cards for Max too!! So think about this story, the little things really do effect a recovery! If you would like to send "Mighty" Max Low a get well card you can send it to:

Mighty Max Low
P.O. Box 111
Neola, IA 51559
You are also welcome to add a dollar into the card! Think about it, $1 in one million cards, that would be amazing!!

March 28th!

So for my first post I would like to tell you all about the last few weeks! In the last few weeks I have meet the most fabulous family, the Hornes.  Julie and Jeff have 4 young boys, Joe, John, Josh, and Jordan. Josh is 7 and he was diagnosed with leukemia on August 13, 2010.  He is the coolest kid I have ever had the pleasure to meet.  In the last few weeks we have been to Happy Joes, bowling, University of Iowa Hospital, McDonald's, church, and just hung out at his house. When I went with him to his first maintenance treatment in Iowa City I got to meet his doctors and nurses and his awesome Grandma! We all had a lot of fun (besides poor Josh when he had his procedures)We also have been to his school together a few times. For those of you who don't know, I shaved my head to raise money for kids cancer. So on Thursday I went to his school and both of us revealed our bald heads to his class. They LOVED it! Me and Josh are definitely "bald buddies!!"
I'm so glad we all met and I really hope Josh is loving it as much as I am! :)
